Obituary

Charles Franklin "Charlie" Herron, 74, of Avilla died Friday, April 23, 2010, in Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne.

Mr. Herron was a lifetime area resident. He had worked for 25 years at Newnam Foundry and Lane Foundry, and retired as custodian at the LaOtto Elementary School.

He was born June 28, 1935, in LaOtto to Esta & Beatrice (Reinoehl) Herron. On April 19, 1963, in Fort Wayne he married Margaret A. Ditton.

Surviving are his wife, Margaret A. Herron of Avilla; a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth L. & Connie Herron of Kendallville and a daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen & Steve Perkins of Kendallville; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Gerald & Beulah Herron of Kendallville and Jim Herron of Kendallville; and four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Agnes Mead of Kendallville, Dora Shepherd of Kendallville, Shirley & Oscar Monroe of South Milford, and Sandra & Sam Weimer of Corunna.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Lee Herron in 1971.

Funeral services will be Monday, April 26, 2010, at 10 a.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville. Burial will be in Fairfield Cemetery, Corunna.

Calling is Sunday, April 25, 2010, from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. in the funeral home.
