Charles D. "Chuck" Frain, 80, of Kendallville died Tuesday, June 5, 2012, at 11:45 p.m. in Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne.

He was a lifetime area resident. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He was a life member of Kendallville VFW Post 2749.

Mr. Frain retired from Barkey Tool and Die in Avilla as a tool and die maker.

Chuck enjoyed nature, being outdoors, fishing, and ice boating. He dearly loved his family.

He was born March 11, 1932, in Wolcottville to Charles A. and Mary Alice (Sparrow) Frain.

Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Vickie and Denny Walker of Fort Wayne; a son and daughter-in-law, Charles E. and Peggy Frain of Kendallville; two granddaughters, Sarah Walker and Rachel Walker; a sister, Sharon Oliver of Rome City; and his companion, Flora Rowe of Kendallville.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, George Frain, Bud Frain, Herman Frain, and Rex Frain and two sisters, Mary Pierce and Hazel Samples.

Graveside services will be held Friday, June 8, 2012, at 11 a.m. in Osborn Cemetery on County Road 300 S in Clearspring Township, Valentine. Honor guard services will be provided by Kendallville VFW Post 2749 and Rome City American Legion Post 381.

Pallbearers will be members of VFW Post 2749.

There will be no visitation.

Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville is assisting the family with arrangements.
