Catherine E. Schmidt, 93, child of God, devoted wife, loving mother, doting grandmother, sister in Christ, precious friend, Avon lady, avid reader, poet and storywriter, missed beyond measure died January 4, 2019, at 3:21 p.m.
She was born January 8, 1925, the second daughter of Ancil and Lucile Buss of Fort Wayne.
On September 13, 1942, she married Doyle E. Schmidt who passed away in 2005.
She was a member of the Hudson United Brethren Church where she taught Sunday School, among her other duties.
She is survived by her three children, Judy (Rob) Wren of Fort Wayne, Tom (Hope) Schmidt of Kendallville, and Jim (Wanda) Schmidt of Hudson; 13 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; five great great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mildred Brand of Fort Wayne and Ruth (Carol) Holden of Nappanee.
Her husband, parents, and brother, Charles Buss preceded her in death.
Funeral services will be Friday, January 11, 2019, at 11 a.m. at the Hudson United Brethren Church with Pastor Joshua Brown, a grandchild, and Pastor Craig Burkholder officiating. Interment will follow at Circle Cemetery near Hudson.
Pallbearers are Nathan Whetzel, Mark Graber, Brian Schmidt, Jason Schmidt, David Wren, Steve Kline, and Ben Wall.
Calling is Thursday, January 10, 2019, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Hudson-Ashley Chapel, 612 North Main Street, Hudson and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
Memorials may be made to the Hudson United Brethren Church and/or the Auburn Nazarene Church.
