Carl Max Stout, 83, of Kendallville and formerly of LaOtto died Friday, October 30, 2015, at 10:12 p.m. in Kendallville Manor Health Care Center in Kendallville where he had resided for the last six years.
He was a lifetime area resident.
Mr. Stout retried as a truck driver for Courier Newsome Transport in Fort Wayne.
He was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church in LaOtto.
Carl served on the LaOtto Volunteer Fire Department for many years, and served as the Fire Chief for ten years. He dearly loved his time on the fire department, and also enjoyed working on car engines.
He was born February 1, 1932, in Mishawaka.
Surviving are a daughter, Pamela L. Babcock of Kendallville; six grandchildren, Shawna Miller, Kristin Hall, Tyson Schwartz, Cory Stout, Casey Babcock, and Zidana Babcock; ten great grandchildren, Tristin Haney, Hayley Haney, Katelyn Schwartz, Sierra Stout, Lillian Lothamor, Madilyn Lothamor, Rosalyn Lothamor, Gage Babcock, Landin Hall, and Taylor Hall; and a sister, Valentine Drake of Fort Wayne.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara A. (Days) Stout; and two sons, Mike Stout and Jim Stout.
Funeral services will be Friday, November 6, 2015, at 11 a.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville with Rev. Al Wingfield of Zion Lutheran Church, West Fairfield officiating. Burial will be in Swan Cemetery
Pallbearers will be Tyson Schwartz, Kirby Miller, Shane Hall, Landin Hall, Tristin Haney, and Katelyn Schwartz.
Calling is Thursday, November 5, 2015, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home and one hour prior to services on Friday.
Preferred memorials are to the LaOtto Volunteer Fire Department and may be left at the funeral home.
