Obituary

Carl C. Rapp, 87, of Hudson, Indiana died Saturday, August 8, 2026, at Parkview DeKalb Hospital in Auburn.

He was born July 10, 1939, in Lynnfield, Massachusetts to Carl D. and Madeline S. (Gilbert) Rapp.

On December 1, 1980, in Angola, he married Linda R. Trecartin.

Carl was a proud U.S. Marine veteran who lived a life rooted in hard work, family, faith, and the things he loved. He was a farmer at heart and took great pride in raising cattle. His knowledge and passion for cattle breeding earned him a respected reputation as a well-known cow breeder with American Breeder Service.

Carl attended Salem Center Presbyterian Church, where his faith and community were an important part of his life. He found happiness in the everyday things that meant so much to him—working on the farm, being around his tractors and draft horses, spending time on the golf course, and following his beloved Chicago Cubs and Indianapolis Colts.

Those who knew Carl will remember his love for the land, his animals, and the farming way of life. He was a man who appreciated the work of his hands and the simple pleasures that came from doing what he loved. His life was built around the people, places, and passions that mattered most to him, and he leaves behind many memories that will be treasured for years to come.

Surviving are his wife, Linda R. Rapp of Hudson, eight children, Tim (Debbie) Ricker of South Paris, Maine, Paul (GerriLynn) Rapp of Hollis Center, Maine, Katie (Doug) Gaetz of Hamilton, Heather (Tim) Smith of Buxton, Maine, Rose Rapp of Belfast, Maine, Jo-Anna (Chad) Wren of Angola, Becky (Josh) Messer of Hudson, and James Rapp of Hudson; nine grandchildren, Zack (Erika), Ashley (Brandon), Kristen (Cole), Kelsie, Tom, Dan, Eric (Amanda), Dylan, and Jessie; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters and two brothers.

Visitation will be Wednesday, August 19, 2026, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Salem Center Presbyterian Church, 3935 S 800 W, Hudson.

Memorial services will follow the visitation at 5 p.m. at the church with Pastor Melody Buehrer officiating.

Preferred memorials are to the church.
