Obituary

Calvon Godsey, 68, of Rome City, Indiana, died Tuesday, June 17, 2025, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.

He was born October 5, 1956, in Montgomery, Knott County, Kentucky to Johner Curtis and Ruth (Terry) Godsey.

On January 21, 1978, in Wolcottville, he married Debbie Wolfe.

He had worked at Midwest Molding in Wolcottville, Starcraft Boats in Topeka, and Forest River Bus Plant in Goshen.

Calvon enjoyed playing horseshoes and pool. He was an avid fan of NASCAR, the Kentucky Wildcats, and the Cincinnati Reds and Bengals.

Surviving are his wife of 47 years, Debbie Godsey of Rome City; a daughter and son-in-law, Vivian and Travis Blankenship of Angola; three grandchildren, Kirsten (Victor) Ley, Briley Blankenship, and Walker Blankenship; three great-grandchildren, Sawyer Ley, Oliver Ley, and Ivory Ley; three sisters, Juanita Stacy of Wolcottville, Lois Fugate of Greenfield, and Shirley (Frank) Sturdivant of Rome City; and six brothers, Ronald (Nettie) Godsey of Clear Creek, Kentucky, Charles Gosdey of Greenfield, Otis (Shelvia) Godsey of Kendallville, Marcus (Faye) Godsey of Rome City, Luther (Clara) Godsey of Kendallville, and Kenneth (Beverly) Godsey of Greenfield.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and five brothers, Gerald Godsey, George Wallace Godsey, Leon H. Godsey, IB Godsey, and Alvin Godsey.

Visitation will be Monday, June 23, 2025, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Harbor of Love Baptist Church, 2353 S. Lima Road, Kendallville and on Tuesday, June 24, 2025, one hour prior to the funeral services.

The funeral service will be Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at 11 a.m. at the church with Pastor Charlie Mosley officiating.

Burial will follow at Orange Cemetery near Rome City.

Pallbearers will be Gerald Godsey, Victor Ley, Travis Blankenship, Nathan Godsey, George Wolfe, Dustin Hicks, Walker Blankenship, and Fred Sturdivant.

Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville is assisting the family with arrangements.
