On Saturday, June 17, 2017 there will be a brief private memorial service to honor the life of Carrol (Edward) Kelly at his home on Cree Lake. C. Edward "Ed" Kelly, 61, of Cree Lake, Kendallville died Saturday, January 14, 2017, at 1:25 p.m. in Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne following an extended illness.

He had lived in this area since 1982, coming from Elkhart.

Mr. Kelly was a counsellor and social worker, specializing in helping children. He was employed by the Northeastern Center and the Bowen Center.

Ed was an avid Notre Dame and Colts fan. He was an athlete in high school and college, playing baseball, football, and fast-pitch softball. He loved fishing, reading, and watching classic movies.

He was born August 22, 1955, in Lafayette to Dale and Ramona (Clem) Kelly. His parents survive in Tucson, Arizona.

On April 17, 1982, in Fort Wayne he married Barbara Jean Douglass. She survives at Cree Lake.

Also surviving are a son, Brian (Rachel) Kelly of Fort Wayne; a sister, Kathy Kelly of Boston, Massachusetts; a brother, Mike (Claire) Kelly of Wisconsin; a sister-in-law, Lori Kelly Johnson of South Bend; two nieces, Jordan Banas and Elizabeth Loy; a nephew, Patrick Kelly; his father-in-law, Morton Douglass of Fort Wayne; sister-in-law, Cindy Douglass of Fort Wayne; and brother-in-law, Mark (Vona) Douglass of Fort Wayne.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Rich Kelly; and his mother-in-law, Phyllis Douglass.

Per Ed's wishes, a memorial service will be held at a later date.

Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville is assisting the family with arrangements.
