Burnas Joe Skaggs, 54, of Kendallville, Indiana, passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at his residence.

He was born December 7, 1970, in Kendallville, Indiana, to Ray Junior and Ethel Irene (Ritchie) Skaggs.

In 1991, he married the love of his life, Peggy Gangwer.

Burnas was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who loved his family more than anything. He never met a stranger, would help anyone he could, and was known for his kind heart and warm spirit. In his younger days, he enjoyed working on cars. He also had a great love of music and for his cat, Putzy.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy Skaggs of LaGrange; two sons, Darin (Racheal) Skaggs of White Pigeon, Michigan and Dusty (Sandy) Hass of Wolcottville; a daughter, Marla (Robert) Combs of LaGrange; ten grandchildren, Sidney Napier, Emily Napier, Whitney Napier, Madeline Napier, Ashley Springer, Donald Miller, Kimble Miller, Hayley Combs, Ryan Combs, and Destiny (Christian) Eicher; two brothers, Tony Skaggs of Rome City and Larry Skaggs of Kentucky; and two sisters, Shelia Slone of Kentucky and Pamela Skaggs of Fort Wayne.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Denver Skaggs, Ronlee Skaggs, and Donald Skaggs; and a sister, Tammy Ard.

Visitation will be Tuesday, July 29, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville.

The funeral service will be Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will follow at Orange Cemetery near Rome City.
