Brenda Faye Ritchie, 64, of Wolcottville died Wednesday, June 22, 2016, in her residence with her family at her side.
She moved to this area in 1967, coming from Kentucky.
Mrs. Ritchie had worked at Krieder Manufacturing in Ligonier. She attended Ashley Love-Divine Baptist Church.
Brenda loved the Lord and her family. She enjoyed shopping.
She was born June 11, 1952, in Hindman, Kentucky, to Clayton and Olive Slone. Her mother died in 1968, and her father died in 2009.
On May 23, 1990, in Cromwell she married Ray Ritchie. He survives in Wolcottville.
Also surviving are a daughter, Shelia (Tommy Smith) Messer of Carrie, Kentucky; two sons, Jeffrey (Jenny) Messer of Emmalena, Kentucky, and Rodney (Hope) Messer of Wolcottville; a stepson, Todd Ritchie of Ligonier; eight grandchildren, Joseph (Crystal) Newsome, Steven (Phyllis) Newsome, Timothy (Lauren) Newsome, Justin Messer, Bryan (Samantha) Martin, Jasmine Beets, Tyler (Katie) Messer, and Kaleb Messer; two sisters, Jeannie (Joe) Woody of Taylorsville, North Carolina, and Robin (Phillip) Lucas of Rome City; two brothers, Clayton Slone, Jr. of Kendallville and Michael Slone of Garrett; and a special friend, Patty Terry of Kendallville.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Janice (Slone) Baker in 2002, and her stepmother, Geraldine Slone in 2001.
Funeral services will be Saturday, June 25, 2016, at 11 a.m. in Liberty Free Will Baptist Church, 2900 E 1150 N-57, Wolcottville with Pastor Phillip Lucas and Pastor Robert Bolen of Ashley Love-Divine Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be in Orange Cemetery, Rome City.
Pallbearers will be Joseph Newsome, Steven Newsome, Timothy Newsome, Justin Messer, Tyler Messer, Kaleb Messer, Matthew Jimenez, and Trafton Jimenez.
Calling is Friday, June 24, 2016, from 2 to 8 p.m. in the church where there will be an evening service at 7 p.m.
Preferred memorials are to the family to assist with funeral expenses.
Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville is assisting the family with arrangements.
