Bonnie Eileen Gnau, 94, of Fort Wayne passed away peacefully at Parkview Noble Hospital on December 22, 2011.
Born November 17, 1917, in Fort Wayne, she was the only daughter of Leo and Grace (Barner) Fetter.
After graduation from the Saint Catherine Academy, she worked as a secretary for the Boss Glove Factory in Fort Wayne.
She was married on June 20, 1940, to Charles Gnau. He preceded her in death.
Bonnie was very active in the G.E. Squares wives, St. Patrick's Catholic Church Rosary Society, The Gardeners of America/Men's Garden Club, National Home Garden Club, a lifetime member of the Garden Club of Indiana, and a volunteer at the Botanical Conservatory. She enjoyed spending time at her cottage on Sylvan Lake during the summers. The past six years she was a resident of Provena Sacred Heart Assisted Living in Avilla, where she received excellent care.
Surviving are her daughter, Cheri (John) Kessen of Rome City; her son, Robert (Rebecca) Gnau of Fort Wayne; three grandchildren, Jonathan Kessen, Richard Gnau, and Eileen Heinze; and five great grandchildren, Carter Gnau, Luke Kessen, Kennedy Heinze, Cameron Gnau, and Savannah Heinze.
She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Nathan Kessen, and a granddaughter, Jenny Gnau.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Wednesday, December 28, 2011, at 11 a.m. in St. Gaspar Catholic Church in Rome City with Father Bernard Ramenaden officiating. Burial will be in Catholic Cemetery in Fort Wayne at 2:30 p.m.
Calling is one hour prior to the services at the church.
Preferred memorials are masses to the church, Provena Sacred Heart Assisted Living, 515 North Main Street, Avilla, Indiana, 46710, or Allen County SPCA, 4914 South Hanna Street, Fort Wayne, Indiana, 46806. Envelopes will be available at the church.
Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville is assisting the family with arrangements.
