Obituary

Billy K. Reade, 88, of Atwood Lake, Wolcottville died Wednesday, October 25, 2017, at Hickory Creek Nursing Home, Kendallville.

He was born February 11, 1929, in York Township, Steuben County to Clarence and Thelma (Needle) Reade.

Mr. Reade honorably served in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1952.

On June 16, 1959, in Wolcottville he married Naomi Edith (Coleman) Merriman. She preceded him in death on February 28, 1992.

He retired in November, 1989 after 37 years as an electrician for Ross Laboratories in Sturgis, Michigan.

Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Alta and Duane Targgart of Wolcottville; three grandsons, Alan (Anita) Targgart, Todd (Renee) Targgart, and Brooks (Heidi)Targgart; seven great-grandchildren, Hillary (Trey) Keller, Shea Targgart, Shelby Targgart, Tate Targgart, Tori Targgart, Tanner Targgart, and Turner Targgart; two great-great-grandchildren, Kennedy Keller and Knox Keller; an aunt, Jean Claywell of Battle Creek, Michigan; and two nephews.

He was also preceded in death by a son, Stephen Lynn Reade; a sister, Joyce Easterday; and four brothers, Robert Reade, Royce Reade, Neal Reade, and Jerry Reade.

Graveside services will be held Friday, November 24, 2017, at 11 a.m. at Woodland Cemetery, Wolcottville with Rev. Ken Weaver, Parkview Noble Hospice Chaplain officiating.

Honor guard services will be provided by Rome City American Legion Post 381, Kendallville VFW Post 2749, and Kendallville American Legion Post 86.

Preferred memorials are to Parkview Noble Hospice or Rome City American Legion Post 381.
