Calling: Saturday, April 14, 2012, from 10-11 a.m. in the funeral home *************************************************
Beverly Joan "Gramma B" Mortimore, 85, of Kendallville passed quietly with her family at her side Thursday, July 7, 2011, at 5:15 p.m. in the home that she and her husband built 60 years ago.
Mrs. Mortimore was a lifetime area resident. She and her husband wintered in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, for 18 years near the ocean she loved.
Beverly was the assistant manager for G.C. Murphy Company in Kendallville for 50 years.
She was a 74-year member of the First Christian Church in Kendallville and the ladies auxiliary of VFW Post 2749 in Kendallville.
Her hobbies included bird watching, working in the yard, crossword puzzles, and reading. She always had a jigsaw puzzle she was working on, and she enjoyed being in the kitchen. But, her entire life revolved around those she loved the most, which included her husband of 66 years who was the love of her life, her daughter and son-in-law, her grandchildren and her great grandchildren. She especially enjoyed being together with family in the home she and Jack shared with their daughter and son-in-law.
Gramma B was frequently seen in town driving her little blue VW bug. She was always active and felt that if you rest, you rust.
She was born November 24, 1925, in Kendallville to Otis and Wynona (Baughman) Hinkley. On April 14, 1945, in Garrett she married Jack H. Mortimore. He survives in Kendallville.
Also surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and David Bryant of Kendallville; three granddaughters, Rhonda Black of Fort Wayne, Cecelee and Chad Shuck of South Milford, and her namesake, Beverly Bryant and her companion, John Crover, of Huntertown; three great grandchildren, Joel David Busche, Bryant Walter-Shuck, and Hannah Marie Black; a sister and brother-in-law, Barbara and Bill Smith of Columbia City; and her beloved dog and companion, Bailey.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Mary Ellen Patterson and Helen Borst.
There will be no calling or services. A private funeral service will be held by the family.
Preferred memorials in Beverly's name may be directed to Parkview Noble Hospice or the Boomerang Backpack Program. Envelopes are available at or you may mail contributions to Young Family Funeral Home.
Arrangements are by Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville.
