Obituary

Betty L. Wise, 66, of Fort Wayne and formerly of Kendallville died Sunday, February 5, 2012, at 8:03 p.m. in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.

She lived in Fort Wayne for two years. Prior to that she had lived in Kendallville for 13 years, coming from Kansas.

She served in the U.S. Navy from 1963 to 1965.

Betty retired as a licensed practical nurse while living in Kansas.

She was a member of Kendallville American Legion Post 86. She formerly attended New Hope Baptist Church, Kendallville.

She was born September 13, 1945, in Russell, Kansas, to Virgil and Alice (Reichard) Thacker. In September, 1974, she married Kayl L. Wise in Salina, Kansas. He survives in Fort Wayne.

Also surviving are a daughter, Sally Nistor of Rome City; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Richard Woodin of Battle Creek, Michigan, and Robert and Lisa Woodin of North Pole, Alaska; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; three sisters, Deanna Bachman of Dorrance, Kansas, Dianna Smith of Weaver, Alabama, and Alta Marie Thacker of Salina, Kansas; and two brothers, Galen Thacker of Salina, Kansas, and Dwight Thacker of Lucas, Kansas.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Private services will be held.

Preferred memorials are to the Arthritis Foundation.
