Betty J. North, 87, of Wolcottville died Tuesday, July 19, 2016, at 6 a.m. in Miller's Merry Manor, LaGrange where she had resided for the past month.
She was a lifetime area resident.
She was employed at Prairie Heights High School for 22 years as attendance secretary and senior class sponsor.
Mrs. North was a long-time member of the Woodruff Grove United Methodist Church.
She served on the Board of Directors at the LaGrange County Library for many years and on the Board of Education at Prairie Heights.
Betty had a great interest in politics from the local level to the Presidential election. She enjoyed all the activities her family was involved in over the years. She was an avid fan of the Tennessee Vols and Notre Dame Girls basketball.
She was born January 26, 1929, in Noble County to LeRoy and Edna (Husselman) Weirich.
On March 15, 1949, she married Jack North. He survives in Wolcottville.
Also surviving are a daughter, Jacqueline (JR) Young of Wolcottville; a son, Michael (Cheryl) North of Wolcottville; six grandchildren, Stephanie (Troy) Blake, Stacie (Shane) Rasler, Travis (Erin) Young, Tanner North, Brennen North, and Khyleigh North; and five great-grandchildren, Austin Blake, Alivia Rasler, Alayna Rasler, Aspen Young and Sophie Young.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Joan Weimer and Maxine Weirich.
Funeral services will be Thursday, July 21, 2016, at 12 noon in Woodruff Grove United Methodist Church with Pastor David Mathews officiating. Burial will be in Woodruff Cemetery.
Calling is Thursday, July 21, 2016, from 10 a.m. to 12 noon in the church.
Preferred memorials are to Kids Club in c are of Woodruff Grove United Methodist Church.
