Obituary

Betty M. Hissong, 77, of Kendallville died Tuesday, July 19, 2011, in Lutheran Hospital, Fort Wayne.

Mrs. Hissong lived in this area 16 years, coming from Corunna. She was a graduate of the Waterloo High School.

Betty had worked at Essex in Auburn and did janitorial work at Group Dekko Services in Kendallville.

She was born January 23, 1934, in Bedford to William C. and Florence (Terry) Payton. On February 8, 1953, in Kendallville she married Richard "Dick" Hissong. He preceded her in death on September 8, 1997.

Surviving are two sons, Dennis (Deb) Hissong of Auburn and Randy Hissong of Butler; two daughters, Karen Hissong of Kendallville and Sue Yeager of Kendallville; 15 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; three brothers, Ralph Payton of Corunna, Claude "Dink" Payton of Auburn, and Delbert Payton of Waterloo; and a sister, Virginia Buttermore of Garrett.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, and five brothers, Paul Payton, Arthur Payton, Robert Payton, Samuel Payton, and Richard "Bub" Payton.

Funeral services will be Friday, July 22, 2011, at 11 a.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville with Pastor Richard Laskowski officiating. Burial will be in Fairfield Cemetery.

Calling will be Thursday, July 21, 2011, from 4-8 p.m. in the funeral home and one hour prior to services on Friday.

Preferred memorials are to the youth program at Harvest Community Church, 1011 South Town Street, Kendallville.
