Obituary

Betty L. Hassinger, 91, of Kendallville died Thursday, November 26, 2015, at 12:45 p.m. in Presence Sacred Heart Home, Avilla.

She returned to this area in May, 2012, after spending 34 years in Sun City, Arizona.

She was involved in farming with her first husband until his death. She later remarried and, along with her husband, was owner of Hassinger Construction in Kendallville.

She was born July 17, 1924, in Fort Wayne to Pearl and Irene (Zelt) Bookout.

In 1942, she married Otto Henschen. He preceded her in death in 1975. She then married Glen E. Hassinger in 1979, and he preceded her in death in 2014.

Surviving are three sons, Robert (Fuschia) Henschen of Wolcottville, Ronald (Karen) Henschen of Kendallville, and Richard (Tammy) Henschen of Wolcottville; a stepdaughter, Nancy Jordan of Corunna; seven grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; nine step great-grandchildren; and one great great-grandchild.

She was also preceded in death by a stepson, Steve Hassinger.

Funeral services will be Monday, November 30, 2015, at 11 a.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville with Rev. David Mathews of the Woodruff Grove United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Woodruff Cemetery.

Calling is Sunday, November 29, 2015, from 2 to 5 p.m. in the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Monday.

Preferred memorials are to the Presence Sacred Heart Home Bus Fund.
