Beth Romaine Reiske, 88, of Kendallville, has completed her journey in life May 23, 2011, at 1:30 a.m. in Parkview Noble Hospital, Kendallville.
Mrs. Reiske graduated from Lincoln High School in Lincoln, Nebraska. She received a bachelor of science degree in Home Economics from the University of Nebraska.
Along with her husband, she was co-owner and operator of the Western Auto store in Kendallville for 28 years.
Beth was a social person and a pillar of the community. She was voted the "Valentine Queen" at the Chandler House for 2011. She sang in the choir at Trinity Church United Methodist and Faith United Methodist Church. She also served as organist at Trinity Church United Methodist Church.
She was currently a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Kendallville.
She was born March 23, 1923, in Columbus, Nebraska, to James P. and Edna R. (Wright) Ross. On June 15, 1943, in Lincoln, Nebraska, she married William S. Reiske. He preceded her in death January 12, 2000.
Surviving are two daughters and a son-in-law, Karen Dianne and Ronald Henschen of Kendallville and Sue Abbs of Kendallville; a son and daughter-in-law, James William and Doreen Reiske of Carefree, Arizona; seven grandchildren, Kimberly Henschen, KrisTena (Matthew) Cartwright, Ronald "Butch" (Correen) Henschen, Troy (Julie) Abbs, Trevor (Melissa Machaj-Abbs) Abbs, Kristen Reiske, and William Reiske; and nine great grandchildren, Kourtney Cartwright, MacKenzie Cartwright, Caleb Henschen, Shelby Henshen, Alexander Henschen, Caiden Abbs, Lillian Sue Abbs, Josephina Abbs and Chloe Abbs.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Loree Klingman and a son-in-law, Scott B. Abbs, husband of daughter, Sue.
Funeral services will be Thursday, May 26, 2011, at 6 p.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville, with Pastor Leon Pomeroy of Faith United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery.
Calling is Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m. in the funeral home.
Preferred memorials are to the organ and music fund at Faith United Methodist Church.
