Obituary

Barton C. Merriman, 73, of Rome City died Monday, January 14, 2019, at Visiting Nurse and Hospice Home in Fort Wayne.

He was born April 27, 1945, in Wayside, Cookham Road, Maidenhead, England, to Adren and Sadie (Green) Merriman.

On October 28, 1967, in Avilla he married Yolanda Landez.

Mr. Merriman had worked in maintenance for Starcraft RV in Goshen and Dexter Axle in Albion.

He was a member of St. Gaspar Catholic Church in Rome City.

Barton enjoyed history. Being a people-person, he enjoyed visiting, telling stories, and making people laugh.

Surviving are his wife, Yolanda Merriman of Rome City; a son and daughter-in-law, Marc and Brandy Merriman of Elkhart; and three grandchildren, Holly, Hunter, and Lilly.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers, Richard Merriman, Dwayne Merriman, and Grant Merriman.

Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday, January 17, 2019, at 11 a.m. at St. Gaspar Catholic Church, Rome City with Fr. Tim Wrozek officiating.

Pallbearers are Marc Merriman, Donnie Fischer, Bernie Fischer, Matt Dazey, Matt Berkes, and Steve Sibert.

Calling is Thursday, January 17, 2019, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at the church.
