Barbara J. Hogan, 70, of Rome City died Saturday, January 29, 2011 at 11:35 p.m. in Parkview Noble Hospital, Kendallville.
Mrs. Hogan was a 1958 graduate of Central Catholic High School in Fort Wayne. In 2002, she retired from Campbell & Fetter Bank in Kendallville.
She was a member of St. Gaspar Catholic Church, Rome City, where she had served on the Parish Council for many years. She was a member of the Rosary Sodality.
Barb enjoyed her grandchildren and all of their activities, reading, living at Sylvan Lake, and antiquing with her Antiquesters Club. She had a strong inner strength, and showed this throughout her life especially during her illness.
She was born January 30, 1940, in Fort Wayne to Francis and Helen (Youtsey) Maldeney. On February 24, 1962, in Fort Wayne she married Dennis J. Hogan. He survives in Rome City.
Also surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Mark S. and Michelle Hogan of Huntington; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kelly L. and Daniel Morris of Rome City and Leigh Ann and Rick Pranger of Rome City; three grandchildren, Matt Hogan, and Melany and Molly Morris; a sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Les Kerr of Fort Myers, Florida; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Bernard "Buck" and Diane Maldeney of Fort Wayne and Robert and Sandy Maldeney of Huntertown; and a brother-in-law, David Aker of Fort Wayne. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Sharon "Pink" Aker.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, February 4, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. in St. Gaspar Catholic Church, Rome City, with Father Bernard Ramenaden officiating. Burial will be in St. Gaspar Catholic Cemetery at a later date.
Calling will be Thursday, February 3, 2011, from 3 to 7 p.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville, where a Rosary service will be held at 7 p.m.
Preferred memorials are to St. Mary's Catholic School in Avilla or to Helping Hands in Rome City.
