Obituary

Barbara Rose Bower, 79, of Kendallville, Indiana died Monday, October 13, 2025, at Kendallville Manor Nursing Home.

She was born August 17, 1946, in Decatur, Illinois to Loran A. and Clara D. (Henzler) Bower.

She was proud Purdue graduate and was a teacher with the East Noble School Corporation for 31 years.

She was a member of Trinity Church United Methodist in Kendallville since 1958 and served as a wedding coordinator there. She was also a member of DAR, Daughters of the American Revolution.

Barbara enjoyed scrapbooking and making miniatures and going to her miniature club, the National Association of Miniature Enthusiasts, twice a year. Her love for genealogy was more than a hobby, it was a gift she gave to her family and her church, preserving stories and connections that might otherwise be lost. Barbara's devotion to her loved ones was unwavering. Her family and her cats were her world, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

Surviving are a sister Lorna Miller of Rogers, Arkansas; a niece, Michelle Green of Rogers, Arkansas; a nephew, Matthew (Carolyn) Miller of Rogers, Arkansas; two great-nieces and a great-nephew, Damon (Chris) Williams, Phoebe Miller, and Jack "JT" Miller.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 22, 2025, at 1 p.m. at Trinity Church United Methodist, 229 South State Street, Kendallville with Pastor Drew Baker officiating.

Private burial is at Lake View Cemetery in Kendallville.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be directed to the Humane Society of Noble County, P.O. Box 471, Kendallville.
