Obituary

Barbara L. Barnes, 98, of Wolcottville, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, at Arlington Place Health Campus in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Born on June 26, 1927, she was a devoted wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and great great-grandmother. Her greatest joy in life was her family.

Barb touched countless lives with her kindness and generosity. Her life was a testament to love, and her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew her. She was known to be sassy and a bit of a rascal, often poking fun and making mischief to keep things interesting. A woman of incredible spirit, Barb battled and beat breast cancer with grace and resilience. She found joy in simple pleasure, including tending to her garden and baking treats for her loved ones.

She was a faithful Christian and longtime active member of the Wolcottville United Methodist Church, participating in the church choir and auxiliary and serving on charity missions to Haiti.

Barbara's memory will be cherished by her family, who will forever miss her vibrant spirit.

She is survived by two sons, Steven Barnes of Bemidji, Minnesota, and Kim (Diane) Barnes of Albion; five grandchildren, Travis Barnes, Ginger Barnes, Taylor Barnes, Misty Coburn, and Mandi Everage; nine great-grandchildren, Caleb, Hannah, Christian, Austin, Dustin, Vada, Francis, Louise, and Isaac; and five great great-grandchildren, Leona, Maslyn, Everlee, Zander, and Lorelai.

Barb was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Eugene Barnes; her parents, Roy and Anna Honaker; her son, Robin Barnes; her daughter, Jerri Smith; and her three brothers, James, Robert, and Keith Honaker.

Visitation will be Tuesday, December 23, 2025, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville.

Barb's funeral service will be Tuesday, December 23, 2025, at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Robert Yoder officiating.
