Obituary

Armond Ritchie, 86, of Kendallville died Saturday, April 17, 2010, at 11:05 a.m. in Lutheran Life Villages, Kendallville, where he has resided since June, 2008.

Mr. Ritchie was a coal miner, and retired as a truck driver. He attended the Full Gospel Revival Center in Rome City. He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during World War II.

He was born November 25, 1923, in Kentucky to Orlando and Viney (Sutton) Ritchie. In June, 1946, he married June Campbell in Hindman, Kentucky. She preceded him in death on May 6, 1986.

On November 19, 1990, in Kendallville he married Edna (Skaggs) Isbell. She survives in Kendallville.

Also surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Junie & Eddie Jones of Kendallville; four sons and daughters-in-law, Jack & Cathy Ritchie of Belle Center Ohio, Kenneth & Keila Ritchie of Rome City, Brent & Betty Ritchie of Kendallville, and Terry & Patty Ritchie of San Jose, California; a stepson, Jimmy Isbell of Walkerton; 18 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; two sisters, Rosetta Terrille of Ohio and Billie Miller of Ligonier; and two brothers, Jennings Ritchie of Kentucky and Mark Ritchie of Rome City.

He was preceded in death by a son, Larry Ritchie; a great granddaughter, Caitlyn Martin; and a brother, Buford Ritchie.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 20, 2010, at 11 a.m. in Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville, with Pastor Wade Sturdivant officiating. Burial will be in Orange Cemetery. Military graveside services will be conducted by American Legion Post 381, Rome City.

Honorary casketbearers will be Reese Ritchie, Aryan Ritchie, and Manny Ritchie. Active casketbearers will be Radney Ritchie, Zachary Ritchie, Chris Perkins, Scott Ritchie, Brian Ritchie, and Chad Ritchie.

Calling is Monday, April 19, 2010, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials are to American Legion Post 381, Rome City.
