Annabelle Matson, 101, of Avilla, Indiana, died Saturday, May 17, 2025, at Lutheran Life Villages in Kendallville, Indiana.

She was born October 1, 1923, in Kendallville, Indiana, to Clarence and Celia (Herberger) Schlupp.

On September 2, 1955, in Avilla she married Clark Matson. He preceded her in death on December 22, 2017.

Mrs. Matson was a graduate of Avilla High School and Lutheran School of Nursing in Fort Wayne.

She worked at various hospitals as a Registered Nurse.

She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Avilla.

Surviving are two nieces, Linda (Jerry) Young of Kendallville and Judy Bender of Kendallville; two nephews, Jerry (Nona) Bender of Kendallville and Jeff (Sue) Bender of Wolcottville; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Clark Matson, a sister, Georgia Ellen Zimmerman; and a brother-in-law, Robert Zimmerman.

Graveside services will be Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at 11:30 a.m. at Woodruff Cemetery with Pastor Patrick Kuhlman of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Avilla officiating.

Preferred memorials are to Immanuel Lutheran Church, 113 West Albion Street, Avilla, Indiana, 46710.
