Alvin Godsey, 61 of Rome City died, Wednesday, November 18, 2015 at 8 p.m. in Presence Sacred Heart Home, Avilla.
He moved to this area in 1965, coming from Kentucky.
Mr. Godsey had worked at HRO Owens Technology in Wolcottville.
He was born October 10, 1954, in Knott County, Kentucky, to Johner Curtis and Ruth (Terry) Godsey.
Surviving are a daughter, Kriston Chandler of High Lake; seven grandsons; one granddaughter;; three sisters, Juanita Stacy of Wolcottville, Lois Fugate of Greenfield, and Shirley (Frank) Sturdivant of Rome City; eight brothers, Leon (Sophronia) Godsey of Stroh, Ronald (Nettie) Godsey of Clear Creek, Kentucky, Charles Godsey of Greenfield, Otis (Shelvia) Godsey of Kendallville, Marcus (Faye) Godsey of Rome City, Luther (Clara) Godsey of Kendallville, Calvin (Debbie) Godsey of Rome City, and Kenneth (Beverly) Godsey of Greenfield;a half sister, Anita Cornett of Dwarf, Kentucky; and a half brother, Curtis Godsey, Jr.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers, Gerald Godsey, I.B. Godsey, and George Godsey.
Funeral services will be Saturday, November 21, 2015, at 11 a.m. in Five Corners Baptist Church in Wolcottville with the Rev. Clarence Combs officiating. Burial will be in Orange Cemetery, Rome City.
Calling is Friday, November 20, 2015, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the church. An evening service will be held at 6 p.m. with the Rev. Charles Mosley officiating.
Preferred memorials are to the family for funeral expenses.
Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel, State Road 9 North, Wolcottville is assisting the family with arrangements.
