Alexine Mary Cincere, 98, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and formerly of Kendallville died Wednesday, January 8, 2025, at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.
The former Alexine Mary Garland was born August 2, 1926, in Alameda, California, to Alexander Murray Garland and Hazel Mudgett Garland.
She graduated from Alameda High School in 1944 and later from Bradley University, Peoria, Illinois, and received her Masters from Indiana University, Ft Wayne.
She had been employed as a Lab Tech for Standard Oil Company in California and later at Shell where she met Henry P. Cincere. They were subsequently married in New York on March 21, 1949. She went on to teach at Peoria Community Schools part time.
She was a member of AAUW-Book Fellows Study group, UWL Science Academy, Astronomy Association, Scottish Historical Society and program Chair for past figure skating groups.
Alexine had many hobbies thru the years including oil and water color painting, extensive botanical collection across five states, set up nature trails at Camp Tapawingo Girl Scouts of Peoria, Illinois, and worked with figure skaters and speed skaters teaching and conducting choreography and performance. She loved classical music and art and enjoyed the Bible study group at Trinity Church United Methodist in Kendallville.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years on June 2, 2009, and a daughter, Marguerite C Willison on June 9, 2011. Survivors include a son, Henry P Cincere, III of Brentwood, Tennessee; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She will be buried at Middle Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, next to Henry in Nashville, Tennessee. In addition, she will join the family plot at Mt Hope, Mattapan, Massachusetts.
