Albert Jent, 76, of Stroh died Tuesday, February 21, 2023, at his residence surrounded by family.

He was born October 23, 1946, in Hindman, Kentucky to Elijah and Gladys (Slone) Jent.

On April 22, 1989, at the farm in White Pigeon, Michigan he married Mary Mann.

Albert had worked as a setup man at Dexter Axel in Albion.

He enjoyed grilling, gardening, bird watching, fishing, turkey shoots. He especially loved watching westerns.

Surviving are his wife Mary Jent of Stroh; three daughters, Gayle (Dave) Shannon of Stroh, Melody (Fred) Julien of White Pigeon, Michigan, and Kasey (Richard Sonnenberg) Messer of Kendallville; a son, Greg (Erin Zielinski) Hagen of Granger; twelve grandchildren, AJ (Katie) Godsey, Fronie (Robby) Henderson, Toni (Matt) Morton, David (Kelsey) Shannon, Destinee Duke, Eathan Julien, Sarah Julien, Nathan (Tatum Gaylor) Hagen, Kellie (Lucas Brock) Hagen, Maddison Hagen, Alex Jobe, and Bree Messer; 11 great-grandchildren; 2 great great-grandchildren; a brother, Kenny (Darlene) Short of Hagerhill, Kentucky; a sister-in-law, Marsha (David) Beebe of Three Rivers, Michigan; two brothers-in-law, Amos Handshoe of Quicksand, Kentucky, and Chris (Kathy Mercer) Mann of White Pigeon, Michigan; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, Elijah Jent; his mother, Gladys Short; his stepfather, Hanscel Short; a sister, Wilma Sue Handshoe; and his beloved dog, Bandit.

Celebration of life services will be announced at a later date at the Stroh Fire Department.

Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville is assisting the family with arrangements.
