Alpha Elizabeth "Betty" McCormick, 89, of Manassas, Virginia, died Saturday, April 24, 2010, in Manassas.
She lived in Virginia since 1996, coming from Wolcottville. She had worked at Indiana University as a Psychology Department Secretary. She also worked as a teacher's aide in Special Ed and substitute teacher in several local school districts for over 25 years.
She was born March 16, 1921, in Bloomington to Henry E. and Alpha Blanche (McCaughan) Moore. On August 8, 1942, in Urbana, Illlinois, she married John Franklin McCormick. He preceded her in death on April 24, 1995.
Surviving are two daughters and their spouses, Mary Ann and Paul Woolerton of Manassas, Virginia, and Patricia and Tom McCormick of Centreville, Virgina; three grandchildren, Trevor Groh of Canton, Michigan, Cheryl (Groh) Ford of Alta Loma, California, and Randall McCormick of Harleysville, Pennsylvania; four great grandchildren, Miranda Ford, Monica Ford, Johnny Ford, and Katarina Groh; a sister, Mary Evelyn Wampler of Bloomington; and a brother, James Moore of Blacksburg, Virginia.
She was preceded in death by a son, Ferris McCormick.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 11, 2010, at 11 a.m. in the Wolcottville United Methodist Church with Rev. Jack Thomas officiating.
Arrangements are by Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel, 222 South State Street, Kendallville.
