Veteran's Day - November 11, 2009
On this day, we remember all those men and women who have served and continue to serve our country in the Armed Forces. We recall with deep appreciation and thanksgiving all they have done to secure our freedom and to keep American one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
A Prayer for Veterans:
Dear Heavenly Father,
In every age, you call men and women to defend your children from oppression, tyranny, and evil. Since our founding as a nation, countless Americans have stepped forward to defend our country and other countries from aggressors and terrorists.
We honor and revere these veterans today, including those who rest in honored glory, those who still suffer from the wounds of war, and those who, with us, enjoy the blessing of living in the land of the free and the home of the brave.
Thank you for the selfless sacrifice of these men and women and their families. Help us to remember them, to pray for them, and to care for them. In the name of Jesus, send forth your Spirit to heal our veterans wounded in body and soul, and grant them the satisfaction of having served you even as they have served us.
Dear God, we can never thank you enough for the privilege of living in America, where we enjoy still the gifts of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. May we strive to keep these rights available to all. In Jesus' name we pray. Amen
