Young Family Funeral Home, Kendallville Chapel was formerly Berhalter-Hutchins Funeral Home which was established in 1860 and is Kendallville's oldest continuing business.

Young Family Funeral Home, Wolcottville Chapel was formerly Hutchins Funeral Home which was purchased by John Hutchins in 1974 from Roger and Margaret Williams.

Pat and Kathy Young purchased these funeral homes in March, 2006, and changed the name to Young Family Funeral Homes. Pat and Kathy, lifetime area residents, believe that families in grief should be ministered to with loving care. We are proud to carry on the tradition of service of the Berhalter-Hutchins family.

We are pleased to announce the addition of Tyler Troxell and Kayla Battishill to our staff. Tyler is a licensed funeral director/embalmer and was born and raised in Union City, Indiana. He graduated from Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science in 2006.

Kayla Battishill
Kayla is a funeral director/embalmer intern and will obtain her funeral director's license this fall. She was born and raised in Gas City, Indiana. She graduated from Indiana Purdue University Fort Wayne in 2007, with an associates degree in arts and a minor in music, and from Cincinnati College of Mortuary Science in 2008.
